Sven Coomer got his start in sport competing in the Modern Pentathlon, eventually representing Australia in the Olympics at age 16. As a 20 year old on spring break in Are, Sweden, Sven tried skiing for the first time and the rest is history. No person has had such an impact on the design of ski boots. In the words of Jackson Hogen “Modern ski boots don’t just echo his designs, they’re based on them.” Read more about Sven’s contributions to the arc of skiing HERE.

I was a 10-year Aspen ski ambassador, chosen in the first elite group for the ’97-’98 season. Encouraged to buy ski boots at Surefoot with a big discount, I did so in October and found great discomfort in the fit of the ski boot liners. A ski instructor suggested I try Zipfits. I was fit by the inventor, Sven Coomer, now my husband! A romance began, not only for my feet! I am a devotee and drum beater for the liners as they have evolved. I also champion the orthotic footbeds designed by Sven. Believe me — the Queen Bee of our Zipfit organization and overseer of our young hot shots who have brought new life to the brand.

At 10 years old (using the Colorado 5th Grade Ski Passport) Chris and his dad skied every resort in Colorado. During their stop in Aspen Chris was introduced to his grandma’s new boyfriend – Sven Coomer who fit Chris and his dad into their first pair of ZipFits. 20 years later and Chris has never been able to relate to people who have foot problems while skiing but he doesn’t let it get to him. Instead, he enjoys skiing with his dog Mabel and fiancé Alex, and hanging out in Aspen with his grandma and her now-husband Sven. Side note, Chris’s brother calls Sven “New-Grandaddy” but that makes Chris uncomfortable.
